Trick or Treat ~ Happy Halloween

Ah yes, the day kids wait for, the day they get CANDY! Lots and lots of candy. Of course parents like it too. No, not the fact that the kids are getting tons of candy to rot their teeth out, but the fact they get to dress them up and have them look so cute.

Now I'll back up just a little bit. On Saturday after our post wide yard sale, I took the kids to the park where they were having some fun events as well as their own little pumpkin patch (I will add that picture in later as my digital camera had died and I only had a disposable camera on me). Each of the kids got to pick out a little pumpkin to take home. So we picked out 3 and were on our way. Last night I decided to carve 2 of them (the 3rd was just to small and I knew they wouldn't really care). The 3rd I did draw a face on today.

We had lots of fun and just went around part of our neighbor with some of our friends. Emma was a Barbie Princess this year.

Christopher was a Knight.

And Matthew was a Hobo Clown. Aren't they all so cute?!?

But hey, check out all the loot the kids raked in.

Military Life

Ok this post is kind of a vent in a way. I see so much, read so much and hear so much and it is just driving me nuts. I know I may offend some but I just feel I need to say what I need to say. This is not directed at any one person in particular but definitely a good read for those still very new to be associated with the military in some way shape or form. Now yes I know I am still very new but trust me I have a lot more first hand knowledge and so on.

To the parents, step parents and parents in law, I have no idea what it feels like to have a child so far away and doing a job that can put them in danger and has hard as it is, the best thing you can do is stay positive, pray and just think to yourself they are only doing a job. To the siblings, step siblings, sibling in laws and step sibling in laws, how cool to have someone you know from your own family to be venturing out into a new area. I know I would have a 100 different questions I would want to ask. Not saying I myself don't mess that up, but you know what, we really can't ask them. As bad as we want to, we can't. You might think, well I'm just having a conversation with him on chat or through email, just us. WRONG! More then likely, you emails, chats and blog comments are getting read by others. Not only can our own government get to them, but because they are on their internet, their government could to. OPSEC rules!

RULES OF OPSEC
1. Don't discuss current or future destinations or ports of call.
2. Don't discuss current or future operations or missions.
3. Don't discuss current or future dates and times of when military will be.
in port or conducting exercises.
4. Don't discuss readiness issues and numbers.
5. Don't discuss specific training equipment.
6. Don't discuss people's names and billets in conjunction with operations.
7. Don't speculate about current or future operations.
8. Don't spread rumors about current, future, or past operations or
movements.
9. Don't assume the enemy is not trying to collect information on you; he is.
10. Be smart, use your head, and always think OPSEC when using email, phone, chat rooms and message boards.

In no way am I saying this is all easy for me and yes I can oops or nearly oops at times and try and ask something. The best thing in the world to do is pray! Next just tell yourself, he is at work. Try and stay positive and busy and not over think it all, yeah, not an easy thing but it will help. Keeping all this in mind, will help keep our soldiers safe. Every time you ask something you really should or try to talk about something, you are putting them in danger. Not only that, some things could even lead to treason on our country and that isn't a good thing either. So remember, keep it plane jane and everything will be good. Keep on praying and trying to think good thoughts everyone! Every little bit helps!!

Halloween Ball

Friday night a friend and I went to event through waiting spouses. What that is is an organization that sets up events or gets tickets to some and offers them to those of us here that are 'waiting' for our deployed spouse, at a discounted rate. This past Friday we attended a Murder Mystery dinner. The dinner took place at the Officers Club.

After dinner, a 'Detective' came out telling us there had been a murder. We were to hear what all the suspects had to say and determine who did it. After they all had a turn at the mic, they came around to our tables and let us ask questions. Then they returned to center stage and any questions we didn't get to ask, could be asked then and everyone would hear the answers.

The suspects, seen above were Jack Lantern, Tara Cardeli, Penelope Crust, Gregory Graves, Todd Sweeney and Bella Bores. The guilty one, was Tara Cardeli. After the mystery, they put on a couple dances for us.

Of course there was a costume contest for all of us. The winner was the 'Dirty Old Man'. Check him out, he's flashing you!

After I got home I had a friend of mine take a couple pictures of me and I sent them off to Jesse. I love you honey and know you were happy I was able to get out like that. I had a lot of fun, eating and dancing with some girl friends.

Wild Life

Well for the first time, I heard some of our wild life tonight. And man let me tell you, when you know they are within the post itself, its kinda scary. Yes I know we have wild jack rabbits, but those are nothing in comparison to what I heard tonight. In fact those rabbits are this animals meals.

Yeah, I'm hoping I don't ever have to actually meet one of these face to face, or even around our home, yet I know it has happened.

Newest Find

One of my newest finds, newest deals in some bedding I got for Chris. The grand total price, $0. Yeah thats right, I got our new to us bedding off Freecycle. Chris loves it!

My Yellow Ribbon

Just in case anyone is wondering, I finally found one for me. You might not think it can be that big a deal but in some ways, sadly it is. Before Jesse left I had talked about how I wanted to deck out my car and all and was warned not to. Here is the reason why. Sadly, not only sometimes do military families have to be worried about being attacked by those against war and such (just because we are military, doesn't always mean we are for war, we are for freedom) but the attacks can actually come from other military. Below are 2 stickers meant to add to your car, but I have chosen to hang on my fridge. The reason, I don't want to have to get a hold of Jesse and give him the bad news that I was attacked in our home. You know, a reason the division SVU is in place.

This flag actually means a loved one is deployed.

Here is the yellow ribbon I ended up with. It says Proud Wife of a Soldier! It is magnetic and sticks to my car.

Hair Cut Time!

We had dinner tonight at our friend's house. After dinner, my friend cut the boys hair and trimmed Emma's. And yes, she had some school for it:)

So daddy, what do you think of your boy now? He is very excited to have a hair cut like daddy's.

I had done Emma's bangs a couple weeks ago so she just trimmed up the rest a bit.

Oh for the Love of Trains

I apologize for not getting my blogs all up to date. Although I thought you all might get a kick out of our newest toy. Just one of my great finds. It is mainly Matt's as I am not quite sure of its wt limit. Be sure to check out the little video at the end;)

Emma didn't get a chance to ride it yet. In fact when she came home from school she took a nap. She really wasn't feeling well. Poor baby will probably be staying home from school tomorrow as she was feverish.
