Chris' Party!

I decided not to do anything really big this year. We had a nice day at home with a couple of close friends. We started out by having some pizza, then cake and on to the presents. All the kids had a fun time together.

I stopped by the Commissary this morning and got the cake. I planned on just picking up a plain cake and adding the cars I had for him to it. Well I decided to ask if they would just spray a road on it for the regular decorated price vs paying for a novelty, since I already had toys for it and all. The gal got a cake, spayed and decorated it just like their "Cars" cake for me with no additional cost! How nice was that?!?

I had no idea, but the frosting turned out to be the whipped kind. Which it actually tasted pretty good. The kids sure loved it! Marble cake with whipped icing!

Chris received clothes, pjs (shown), sheets and a "Cars" picture/sticker book from his Grandma and Grandpa Hand. And yes, he went to bed in those pjs tonight!

He got a Dino playset, Hot wheels cars with dinosaurs on them and a bunch of dino babies from his Grandma and Grandpa Jones. Of course has asked to open them right then.

In the morning before school, I gave him a stuffed Mator that talked. If you pushed his buttons, he would tell jokes. That rode with us to and from school today. In addition, Jesse and I gave him a Mega Blocks set with Lightning McQueen, My first Tool caddy (a little project by Craftsman) and a Write and Learn Letter Pad by Vtech.

Needless to say, Christopher had a very happy birthday!!

Chris is 4!

Christopher you are such a sweet boy and we are just amazed at how grown up you are getting. It is so hard to believe you are 4 already. Wherever did the time go?!? Although Daddy couldn't be with you for this birthday, he loves you with all his heart. I am so happy for both of you that you were able to connect tonight via webcam so Daddy could see you and tell you Happy Birthday Big Guy, and you were able to see him as well.

We love you Christopher! So thankful you are our son!!

And Christopher, it looks like you did it! You are officially potty trained by age 4! Way to go Big Guy!!

Snow Play

I don't really have all the snow items out for the kids but I didn't want them to totally miss snow play. So, today we put on shoes and coats and went outside for a tiny bit. Chris was the only one in the snowsuit as his happened to be hanging in his closet and not away like most.

The kids had fun just touching, tasting and running around in the snow. Since Chris was in a snowsuit I was able to lay him down and get a quick picture, he didn't mind. Emma loved eating the snow the most. Matt just loved touching it but I made sure to cut the time short, his poor little fingers were going to freeze.

And then there was more........

The first set of snow pictures I took at about 9am. This next set, I took at 1pm. It hadn't stopped snowing that whole time.

It finally stopped snowing for awhile at about 3:30pm. I opened up our back slider and took a couple pictures of the mountains since I could finally see them. Aren't they pretty?!?

It wasn't long that it stopped and started back up again. My camera didn't take too well at taking the night photos, mostly because of the snow that was falling. But here is a idea of just how much of a blanket of snow we ended up with. Pretty rare for this area!

Snow

Yup we got snow. I woke up to "Mom, there is snow on the ground!" said Chris. Its nearing noon and we are still at only 33 degrees. Our high is only supposed to be 39 today. And here just a couple days ago I could wear flip flops outside. Thought you all would enjoy seeing some of the pics I took.

Our home!

Our neighbor made a snowman.

Pretty tree.

My friend took this of me.

I still can't believe how much it snowed and it still snowing at noon!

Happy Thanksgiving!

This was the first year that we didn't spend Thanksgiving with any of our family. In the morning, I got up and put in a turkey. It was my friend's turkey but I told her I would make it as she was preparing a lot more. I actually started the night before. I made the green bean casserole then, except for the topping and made sure the turkey was ready for the next morning. That was definitely the largest turkey I had ever made before, coming it at just over 22lbs. The next morning I got up just before 7 and put the turkey in. I had put a rub on it the night before then then of course basted it all the way through cooking. I even borrowed my friends injector and injected it a bit when it was cooking. After everything was ready, we headed over to our friends house.

Yeah, we had a lot of great food! And some great people to spend time with. One thing that is nice about being military. If you are far from home and loved ones, the military comes together and becomes our own family.

We had lot of fun! Ate a few different times, main course and desert. We also played some games. The kids all played great together. Which is pretty good for having 8 kids together, ok one was a baby but still. We ended up getting home around 11PM. I put the kids right to bed and was able to tell Jesse all about it online.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We missed you Jesse!!

They're Chickens Mom

The kids went to daycare for a couple hours on Wednesday so I could get a few things done easier. When I picked them up, Emma and Chris had made a project while they were there.

"They're chickens mom." Said Emma.
"Oh, but I think they might be turkeys sweetie." Says Mom, "After all, it is Thanksgiving tomorrow."
"Oh yeah, turkeys." said Emma.
